15 Ways to Practice Self Love

Self Love is vital to a healthy life. Here are 15 ways that you can add self care into your life.

​You are important and it's necessary to practice acts of self love in order to stay healthy- both mentally and physically. When times get tough or schedules get packed full, self love is almost always the first thing to go but this is the worst thing you could do.

If you find it difficult to practice self love, if you think that you don't have enough time in your day, or if you don't know what it even means, then keep reading.

Acts of self love don't have to be big grandiose things. You can do little things throughout the day to remind yourself that you matter. Try to incorporate one act of love for yourself every day. Here are some examples:

  • Tiny acts of love:
    -when you find yourself standing still (elevator, in line, during conversation) plant your feet firmly on the ground letting your weight rest evenly on both legs
    -before getting out of bed do a full body stretch, reaching your arms overhead and pointing your toes out long
    -smile for 15 seconds without stopping for no reason
  • Small acts of love:
    -sit down with a cup of coffee (or tea) and do nothing but drink it and enjoy it
    -practice walking mediation, even if it's just for a few seconds every day (walking to your car, walking to the bathroom, walking to your bed). This just means noticing your inhales and exhales.
    -start a Pray Rain Journal
  • Medium acts of love:
    -spend a few minutes outside
    -read a book for half an hour
    -get dressed up for no reason
  • Large acts of love:
    -go to a yoga class
    -go out to eat at your favorite restaurant
    -take an hour from your day to do anything you want
  • XL acts of love:
    -treat yourself to the hair salon
    -buy something you've wanted for awhile
    -organize your closet, throw out things that don't fit or you don't wear

If you make a teeny tiny effort then self love is totally possible. Perhaps you don't have the time or energy for the XL acts of love, but surely you can take a few moments for something really small. Choose one of these items, or choose your own, and make it a ritual... do it every single day. Create your morning or evening ritual and stick to it!
