Self Love Equals Self Care
Self Love = Self Care
Self love and self care are basically the same thing. Often we toss around the term self care without acknowledging the love part. Self love is practically a taboo topic and is often used to discuss sexuality. While I won’t dispute the sexual definition of self love, I think it’s important to look further. After all, when you look a word up in the dictionary, doesn’t it have several definitions?
So in order to define what self love means to you, start with self care. This might make it easier to accept: taking care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and physically. When you do this you are practicing self love. Whether this is an easy or hard concept to grasp, even stepping a toe into the pool of self love is huge first step. Just 5 minutes a day spent doing something you love or working on your self love mindset will change the rest of your day. Listing 10 things you’re grateful for before you get out of bed will help set the tone for the day.
Loving yourself, caring for yourself, doesn’t have to be scary or overwhelming, but it should be consistent.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
The journey is only complete if you keep taking steps. Take a small step every day and you’ll see great results. Are you willing to take the step?
