A meditation on self care: Self care isn’t selfish

This self care meditation is inspired by something Susanne Grant said during her interview. “Self care isn’t selfish. . . If I’m a woman who puts herself first, it’s going to have an effect on our little girl Hannah and of course my relationship with my husband” -Susanne Grant.

Self care and my children

Self care isn’t selfish. My self care is going to have an effect on my children. When I give myself care, I am teaching my children how to love themselves. I am teaching my children that I value myself. I am teaching my children that I matter. When I exercise self care, I am a more patient mother. I am a calmer mother. I am more able to love my children because my heart bucket is full. I am a better mother because my well is not empty.

Because I practice self care, I am able to give more of my time to my children. Because I practice self care, I am able to be fully present for my children. Because I practice self care, I am able to give my children my best self. I love myself. I value myself. I am important.

If I didn’t practice self care, I would be less. If I didn’t practice self care, I would be less able. If I didn’t practice self care, I would be less present.

I want to be more for my children. I want to be more able with my children. I want to be more present with my children. I want to be my best for my children. Self care isn’t selfish.

Self care and my partner or future partner

Self care isn’t selfish. My self care is going to have an effect on my partner – or future partner. When I give myself care, I am showing my partner how much I love them. I am reminding my partner that I value myself. I am reminding my partner that I know that I matter. When I exercise self care, I am a better lover. When I exercise self care, I am a calmer partner. I am more able to love my partner because my heart bucket is full. I am a better partner because my well is not empty.
