Mindmapping for Success


What is mindmapping???

Basically it’s just a giant brain dump (eh hem- brainstorm) session.

We all have goals, things we’d like to achieve in our lives or businesses, but we don’t very often think about how to accomplish them. That my friends is a sure fire way to not succeed.

Step 1: Define your goal

This one sounds obvious, but I think you’ll be surprised at things you want that you’ve never told yourself you want. What is your goal? Write it down.

Be specific, make it as big or small as you want, as extravagant or as strange as your heart desires. What do you want to accomplish this month? Pick one goal.

Step 2: Mindmapping.

Now is the fun and sometimes hard part. Think of every. single. thing. you can do to accomplish this goal. Everything. Want to lose 5 pounds? You could go running 5 days a week, or… you could chop off an arm! Seriously. Scavenge your mind for every single possibility and write it down.

Aim for 30-40 ways that you could succeed in reaching your goal.

Step 3: Implementation

Once you’ve finished writing down every. single. possible. idea. for achieving your goal weed out the ridiculous and possibly illegal things- your definitely not going to cut off your arm right?? Right?!

Now that you’ve figured out what you can do (and what you aren’t willing to do) it’s time to start picking the things to do that will help you achieve your goals.


Why does mindmapping work? Well, most of all it pulls an abstract idea from your mind and makes it reality. It gets you start thinking that it isn’t a dream, rather a reality waiting to be if you just take the steps to make it happen.

It might take more than a month, in which case I would suggest breaking down that large goal into smaller steps. Little by little we travel far.
