I Enjoy My Own Company – A Meditation
I Enjoy My Own Company – A Friday Meditation
In an interview with Just Stay Curious, Vivienne McMaster reflects on her journey. She talks about her need for solitude. “I enjoy my own company – I need it. I won’t apologize for it. . . It is what I need to keep this well filled and I’m going to do it.” This meditation is inspired by that quote, and by the introvert within.
I Enjoy My Own Company
I enjoy my own company. I will not apologize for liking myself. Loving myself. I believe in making a conscious effort to love myself, like myself, and enjoy myself. I focus my attention, not on what could be improved upon, not on what I dislike. I focus my attention on the parts of me that I enjoy, that I am fond of, that I celebrate. Right here, right now, I bring my focus to that which I enjoy about me.
I Need Time Alone to Enjoy My Own Company
I need time alone. Being alone allows me to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life. Being alone allows me to recharge my batteries, to fill my cup. Being alone provides me an opportunity to reconnect with myself. Because I need to be alone, I set aside time each day to do so. This meditation is my time. I celebrate my ability to recognize my own needs. I celebrate my willingness to provide for my own needs. Giving myself alone time is a gift of self love. Giving myself alone time is a gift of self care. Giving myself alone time establishes that I am willing to make me a priority.
I Will Not Apologize for My Need To Be Alone
I resist the urge to apologize for my need to be alone. I resist the nonsense I learned over the years that time alone is selfish. I know that alone time is critical to my well being. I do not apologize for my need to breathe. I do not apologize for my need to eat. I do not apologize for other needs that I have. I will not apologize for my need to be alone. I will not apologize for taking care of me.
I Need to Be Alone to Keep My Well Filled
Being alone fills my well. It is okay that not everyone understands this. I understand it. By being alone each day, enjoying my company, I feed my soul. By keeping my well full, by feeding my soul, I have enough to give to others. On the rare occasion that circumstances are such that I missed the opportunity to be alone and fill my well during the day, I will sneak a few moments at night, eyes closed, while tucked under the covers. I will also make a conscious effort, each day, to seek out opportunities in the pockets of my life to take a minute, a breath, to celebrate myself.
I Am Going to Do It
I am committed, here and now, to identifying a time each day that I can be alone. I celebrate my alone time right now. I honor myself for taking the time to be alone each day. I will create a space for my alone time. I can choose alone time in the shower. I can choose alone time during meditation. I can choose alone time in bed after I wake up, at the very start of my day. Because alone time is so important to me, I am committed to making the time to be alone. By loving myself, I am making myself a better person. By caring for myself, I am modeling good behavior for those in my life that I love the most. Every day that I honor my needs, I am loving myself.
