Hi! I'm Gillian! I'm the founder and host of Just Stay Curious Podcast. In two words, I am a quirky explorer. Or maybe a quixotic explorer... I do like that word. I interview women from around the world about their journey to self-love. They share their ups, downs, and everything in between. Most importantly, they share the lessons they've learned along the way.
where i come from
As an explorer intent on bettering myself I have been all over the world. I grew up in the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico). I enrolled at New Mexico State University, but I didn't quite make it through the year(see grandfather's stern talking to below).
After that I worked at White Sands National Monument (375 sq. miles of white gypsum sand dunes) and I made money selling handmade jewelry. That wasn't quite where my heart lay, but I had no idea what to do next.
Naturally, I moved cross-country to Connecticut. In Connecticut, I was a Sales Manager at a large music store chain, but I quickly became bored so I enrolled in art school. After a year of studying photography I realized that I didn't want to work selling my photos so I switched university yet again.
At Southern Connecticut State University I finally graduated in 2013 with a BA in Music. The year after I graduated university was full of turmoil. I was working as a cook which was fun until I learned the menu, then it got repetitive and despite the fact that I was working with friends it just wasn't fun anymore. I had a hard time connecting with my co-workers because I had such big dreams for my life-- I didn't know what i wanted, but I wanted something more.
follow your heart
I had received the same advice over and over and over again. I asked my grandfather what that meant after he gave me a stern talking to ( for a very ill advised and short lived marriage at 18). He couldn't tell me how to follow my heart, but he did tell me that when my head and my heart were in line that's when I would know that I had finally gotten it right.
10 years later, here I am in New York City (with plans to travel the whole world!). And while I can't tell you the secret to following your heart, I can tell you that for me it means creating beautiful things, and connecting with other women who are interested in self-love, spiritual values, and healthy living.
This is my journey to goodness, wholeness and health, and my attempt to always Just Stay Curious, I hope you will join me for the adventure of a lifetime!! My goal is to connect with as many people as possible, to stay inspired and to inspire others. Through my unique experience of telling my own story in this public forum, and interviewing other women who are generous enough to share their own stories, I have found empowerment by taking authorship of my story. I hope you do the same.
